  1. Are Time and Money Excuses to Stay Unhealthy?

For people over 50 who know they should exercise but don’t, it’s often one thing after another.

They say they don’t have the time. Or the money. Or they feel they’re too old to start.

At YPB Training Studio, we understand these concerns because we hear them all the time. But we also know that staying active is one of the most important investments you can make in your future health, independence, and quality of life.

Regular exercise helps you stay strong enough to enjoy life on your own terms. It supports a healthy weight, helps regulate blood pressure, boosts energy, and provides opportunities for social connection and community.

Often, the challenge isn’t a lack of time, money, or motivation—it’s finding a realistic approach that fits your life and priorities.

At YPB Training Studio, we help active adults over 50 build strength, improve mobility, and gain the confidence to keep doing the things they love—whether that’s traveling, playing with grandchildren, hiking, gardening, or simply moving through daily life with greater ease.

    No. 1: “I Don’t Have Time”

As the famous saying goes, “Those who think they have no time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness.”

Here’s an interesting illustration of how we generally spend our time.

Let’s say people live an average of 25,915 days, or about 71 years. Of that, they spend just 0.69 percent (or 180 days) exercising.

That’s according to a survey of more than 9,000 people worldwide, conducted by Reebok and the global survey company Censuswide.

The survey also reports that people spend 41 percent of their time, or 10,625 days, looking at some kind of screen.

The World Health Organization and the U.S. government recommend at least 2½ hours of moderate-intensity exercise each week. A Harvard study found that just 15 minutes of physical activity a day may add three years to your life. Research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association also found that physical inactivity poses a significant health risk.

It’s worth asking: Could 15 minutes a day be one of the most valuable investments you make in your future health?

    “It’s Too Expensive”

The good news is that movement doesn’t have to be expensive. Walking around the neighborhood is free. So is gardening, playing with your grandchildren, or going for a bike ride.

If you’d like more guidance and support, there are fitness options available for a variety of budgets.

Exercise can also help reduce healthcare costs over time by supporting overall health and reducing time lost to illness and injury. Investing in your health today can pay dividends in many ways, including financially.

    Consider some common monthly expenses:

    • A daily coffee shop habit can add up quickly.
    • Cable or satellite TV subscriptions average around $147 per month.
    • Hair coloring and highlights can start at $150 and increase from there.
    • Smoking and frequent alcohol consumption can cost hundreds of dollars each month.

We’re not suggesting you should spend more or less on any of these things. The quality of your exercise program isn’t determined by how much money you spend.

That’s why, at YPB Training Studio, we take our pricing seriously to provide exceptional coaching, accountability, and value for active adults over 50 who want to stay strong, mobile, and independent.

Think of exercise as an investment in your health, your independence, and the life you want to continue living.

It may be one of the best investments you’ll ever make.
