Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy staying active by playing volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, and working out. I also volunteer with Young Life.
How did you hear about YPB and what brought you to the studio? I heard about it as an internship when I was a student at TAMUCC.
What attracted you to becoming a Fitness Professional/Functional Aging Specialist? The upbeat positive vibe that comes from both the clients and staff.
What unique qualities do you bring to Team YPB that might set you apart (even just a little bit)? I have the best mustache.
What is your own weekly fitness routine? I do a push/pull split and lift weights four times a week. The first two days I lift heavy with low reps and do Olympic lifts and the second two push/pull days I lifts lighter but for more reps and focus on technique. Then I do plyometrics and core work on days I do not lift weights
What is the most important thing that a Fitness Professional/Functional Aging Specialist brings to your own experience in the gym? I have started to incorporate more functional exercises into my routine.
What type of community activities are you involved in? I volunteer locally with Young Life and have been for over 2 years now. I currently have the opportunity to serve at a Young Life summer camp for high school students this upcoming May and June.
What do you look forward to the most working with men/women over 50, their health challenges and/or disabilities? Both are challenges that give me an opportunity as a trainer to help the individual find ways to make improvements in their daily lives through the training we do here.
What would you like to see change/develop/emerge in the future of the health care industry and the aging population? More awareness about the benefits of exercise.
What do you imagine your participation to be in this change? To educate individuals on the positive benefits of exercise.
